A little while ago, the Committee conducted an
essay contest for Shelby County high school
students. The subject of the essay was the Second
Amendment. Some of the essays were appalling. They
regurgitated every lie, half-lie, and fantasy off
the mainstream media. Other essays were pro-gun,
but also exhibited no knowledge of Constitutional
principles/concepts (let alone specific knowledge
of the Second Amendment) or American heritage. Few
essayists exhibited even a smidgen of acknowledge
of these things.
